Are you in immediate danger? If you are in immediate danger or seriously injured, you can contact the emergency services on 999 (or 112 from a mobile phone).

Find a safe space.  If an incident has just happened, try and find somewhere you feel safe. 

External support

In an emergency, call 999 for the Police, or 101 is the non-emergency number.

If you need urgent police help but cannot speak, you should:

  1. Dial 999the
  2. Listen to the questions from the operator
  3. Respond by coughing or tapping your device, if you can
  4. If prompted, press 55 to let the operator know it's a genuine emergency and you'll be put through to the police.

There are free specialist support services including:

  • Rape Crisis: 24/7 Rape & Sexual Abuse Support Line staffed by specialists. Call free on 0808 500 2222 or go to the website to start a free online chat
  • London Survivors Gateway 0808 801 0860. This helpline is for people of all genders who have been affected by any form of sexual violence.
  • Rights of Women provides frontline legal advice to women experiencing all forms of violence against women and girls.
  • Survivors UK offer information, support and counselling for male and non-binary survivors of sexual violence
  • Survivors Trust has over 120 member organisations throughout the UK and Ireland who provide specialist support services survivors of sexual violence. Call 0808 801 0818
  • The Havens specialist support for people who have been raped or sexually assaulted. For urgent advice and appointments call 020 3299 6900 
  • Galop runs a helpline for LGBT+ people experiencing abuse or violence including sexual violence. Call 0800 999 5428 or email help@galop.org.uk

RCA support for students

You can use this platform to disclose incidents to the College. You can choose whether to do this with your contact details or anonymously. If you report anonymously and choose two-way messaging, we can let you know about your options. If you share your contact details, you will be emailed and offered an appointment with a member of Student Support, who can explain your options. This will include the option to get support, and any options to take action against the perpetrator(s). There is also a RCA webpage about sexual misconduct you can read here.

All Student Support services are explained on the Student Support Hub. RCA students also have access to The Student Assistance Programme Support line, a free, confidential service that provides you with emotional and practical support for concerns big or small. This includes unlimited access to a telephone helpline, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. You also have the option to WhatsApp / SMS or Live Chat using the details below.

RCA students have access to hours of wellbeing content through the Spectrum Life student portal including courses, guides, and learning hub content.

RCA support for staff

You can use this platform to disclose incidents to the College. You can choose whether to do this with your contact details or anonymously. Your report will be received and responded to by HR staff.

Staff health and wellbeing support is explained on the HR hub on the intranet. This includes the College's Employee Assistance Provider (EAP), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
